Whanau Day: Part 2

Sol helped the rest of the class how to use movement and gestures to make our poems entertaining.

Whanau Day Poem Finalists

Last Friday Room 1 had three poem recital finalists.  They were all awesome!  We were very proud of Sol, Noah, and Leyah.

Meeting Harold

Room 1 really enjoyed our two visits to the Life Education Caravan. We learnt a lot about the air we breathe. The highlight was meeting Harold.

Room 1 Science Celebration

Easy Blog Photo
Room 1 was excited to see all their hard work up in the Endeavour Centre. We have been learning so much about flight. It was great to share our work with the other classes and our families. Awesome Room 1!

Balloon powered cars

What do you think Room 1?  Should we have a go at making these?

We could save our milk cartoons..... But we will have to wash them,

5th in the School Cross Country

This is a photo of Kaeden receiving a School Cross Country Certificate.  There was a mistake on the day.  We like to celebrate each others successes in Room1 (and pull some crazy faces!).

Frogs vs Toads

Last week Room 1 read a book together called "Tiddalik".  We are fascinated about frogs at the moment.  Here are some facts about some flying frogs.  Room 1 knows the difference between frogs and toads.

There are three types of flying frogs.  These flying frogs live in a rain forest in Malaysia:

1.      The golden tree frog flies like a parachute.

2.      The javen flying frog flies like a para glider (although we have to do some more research about the name of this frog.  We do not know if we are correct).

3.      The wallace frog flies like it has aerofoils.

Cross Country

Today was the school cross country.  It was a cold afternoon and although it started to drizzle Room 1 and the rest of the junior school soon got running.  Everyone tried their best at long running and came away smiling.

Persevering with Assembly

Room 1 has been learning all about this term's school value, perseverance. We persevered to get a small item ready for sharing with the school but then the storm arrived and we couldn't share our item on Friday. We have our fingers crossed that we can do our assembly this week.

Scooter Day

Room 1 loved the new scooter circuit.  The new path is fantastic to get some speed up.  It had a little hill.  Everyone was very good at weaving in and out of other scooter riders.  Both Will and Alfie spent the whole time running!!!!!  They could keep up with the scooters.  Thanks to the student council for organising this for us.

Mini Marathon

We all got a mini marathon t-shirt to wear for the race.  When we arrived at the Events Centre it seemed like a sea of red.  Everyone run extremely well.  Two kilometres is a long way for a six year old to run but Room 1 had no problems with this.  We were awesome.  Everyone tried their best, run the whole way, or as much as they could and finished with a smile.  Alfie was very lucky to win a spot prize.  He got a soft toy and Will's brother Jack got a flash watch.  Room 1 you were very respectful and represented your school with pride.
